47 km away from San Vito Lo Capo

The medieval village of Erice was founded in the thirteenth century. B.C. by the Elymians and is located on the summit of Mount San Giuliano at 750m above sea level. Its location allows you to admire a beautiful view of the Egadi islands and Salt Pans. In Erice there are many churches and buildings, some of great value, in particular the Church and its bell tower.
Other prominent monuments are the Pepoli Castle, which was the ancient seat of the governor, the Castle of Venus, once the sanctuary and the Balio Garden.
Among the typical products you can taste the famous almond biscuits and the Genovese pastries, accompanied perhaps with a glass of sweet wine or Malvasia.

Erice is also known as the capital of science thanks to the presence of the Ettore Maiorana Centre that annually hosts many international delegations.
